COOPERATION

The Centre of Semantic Integration is a project that is open to international cooperation, knowledge sharing and creation of joint solutions with the scientific community, developers and experts in the following areas of research:

  1. (Re)Use of semantic assets:
  • selection of semantic assets during the modeling of information exchange schemes in accordance with the requirements of consistency and adequacy;
  • comparison of semantic assets, identifying similarities and differences of elements in different data models;
  • creation of semantic core based on the comparison of semantic assets.
  1. Solutions aimed to overcome the problem of heterogeneity of data sources and schemes describing them:
  • development of methodology for linking data from heterogeneous sources on the basis of semantic assets re-use;
  • generation of complex queries to multilingual sources;
  • comparison of data from disparate sources, analysis, publication and visualization.
  1. Management of semantic assets and their life cycle:
  • development of the methodology for the management of semantic assets;
  • tools for lifecycle management of semantic asset description and its content;
  • tools for creation, translation, assessment and dissemination of semantic assets for further reuse.
  1. Promotion and dissemination of semantic integration methods in a heterogeneous IT environment:
  • experience exchange with leading experts in the field of application of semantic methods for information sharing; adaptation, promotion and development of the best solutions;
  • undergraduate and graduate students training; increasing the research on the subject; development of joint projects and solutions;
  • skills development for domain experts, authorities and participants of information interaction, including the reduce of the gap between domain specialists and developers of information systems and services;
  • dissemination of knowledge, as well as methodical and informational support.

The results of the project “Center of Semantic Integration” could be used for:

  • E-Government: the collaboration of experts in various fields working on the development of semantic models for public services, cross-sector cooperation, and information sharing in order to achieve semantic interoperability of Russian e-Government systems.
  • Research: involvement of young scientists and students as well as other research teams in (1) semantic modeling of various domains, (2) creating glossaries, taxonomies, thesauri and ontologies for use in research projects, (3) organizing scientific materials, and (4) improving search procedures for scientific and technical information.
  • Data analysis: (1) the ability to normalize public open data, (2) transform it into linked open data reusing semantic assets and search for related data from other sources, (3) providing meaningful interpretation, (4) visualization and combined analysis of data from different sources.
  • Semantic integration of information systems: stakeholders, experts and development teams get the opportunity to use the tools for domain modeling of distributed information systems, constructing information exchange schemas using the federated data model.

Within the Center of Semantic integration, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics is interested in cooperation with international universities and research groups to implement projects in the field of semantic integration as well as to develop new promising areas of research and applications.

International cooperation will focus on practical application of research results in creation of application systems and services based on the use of foreign and Russian semantic assets. This will aim to provide semantic interoperability between heterogeneous information systems, as well as to improve the quality of scientific and technical information search, forming knowledge bases for deep- learning systems, automatic text analysis and the other aforementioned areas.
